On Friday 4th February, Anand competed in the Regional Final of FutureChef. He was one of 4 pupils from schools in the Lancashire, Cumbria, Cheshire, Manchester, Merseyside area to compete for a place in the National final. After travelling to Manchester College, Anand embarked on his task to produce 2 mains and 2 desserts in under an hour and a half.
He produced two fantastic dishes. Pan fried fillet of sea bass with a cucumber and jalapeño risotto and a dark chocolate and hazelnut praline cremeux. Unfortunately it wasn’t Anand that progressed to the final but the professional chef judges gave some amazing feedback saying “hands down the best dessert, restaurant standard, could see it a Lord’s” and “amazing to see a student filleting a fish in a final, not many chefs would even dream of attempting it.”
