STEM Fortnight: 5th March – 16th March 2018
During the fortnight there are a number of activities and trips taking place to promote the STEM subjects and the career options that they can provide. 10 Year 7 pupils will be taking part in the EEP LEGO Robotics Challenge, 80 pupils are attending the trip to the Big Bang Fair in Birmingham, 8 pupils will be attending the local Rotary Competition and there are up to 40 spaces for pupils to take part in an online chat (Monday 12th March 3.20pm) with a range of young engineers working in industries related to satellites . As an extension of this there is also the opportunity for parents to also take part in a separate general engineering chat. Please see the information below:
Evening online chat with scientists and engineers – Thursday 15th March, 7-8pm
This term, some of our students have been meeting & chatting with real scientists or engineers in their lessons using the I’m a Scientist and I’m an Engineer websites. In this online activity, they have conversations about what it’s like to work in STEM. Families are invited to join their children as they talk with the scientists and engineers from home in this moderated chat.
We hope you’ll enjoy making use of this exciting opportunity. Students need login cards (see Mrs Caw if interested); go to imascientist.org.uk or imanengineer.org.uk to join in.
