YOUNG SHEPHERD OF THE YEAR
Lewis Walton
Young Shepherd of the Year – Rare Breeds Survival Trust
During 2015 Lewis Walton of Year 11 took part in a number of Young Handler Competitions to try and qualify for the Young Shepherd of the Year. He won 3 of these competitions which meant that he qualified for the Young Shepherd of the Year in Berkshire.
To win the competition he had to show his own sheep (Norfolk Horn). This involved preparing the sheep for presentation, being presentable himself and showing the sheep around the livestock ring. On 22nd September, he took part in the final and won. He is rightly very proud of his achievements and his livestock as it is a difficult competition to win and it was his last chance to compete. Congratulations to Lewis on this outstanding achievement!
